GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The primary focus of this position is to maintain cleanliness of large commercial kitchen and assist with food preparation in  accordance with all regulations and codes set forth by the State Health Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Washes dishware and returns to proper storage area.
  • Ensures chemicals are only in the proper departmental storage area.
  • Assists chefs/cooks with food preparation tasks.
  • Labels and stores prepared food product correctly.
  • Works with food service team to ensure proper food handling and storage temperatures.
  • Assists in ensuring proper sanitation procedures.
  • Assists in dining room/room delivery cart clean-up.
  • Sort food products for recycling.
  • Ensures proper storage of food and chemical supplies.
  • Assists in completing tasks on Planned Maintenance calendar.
  • Assists in maintaining a temperature log of stored and incoming food products.
  • Assists receiving and sanitation personnel, as directed.
  • Enforces rules of People Serving People.
  • Assists other team members in closing duties.

  • Ability to be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Knife skills adequate to light preparation of food.
  • Serve safe sanitation certification within 6 months.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell.  The employee must lift and/or move 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Cold and or freezer temperatures for long periods of time.
