What do we need?

The Director of Systems Change and community engagement will advance, direct, and implement systems change and community engagement across People Serving People. They will focus on the ideas, perspectives, and solutions offered by people directly impacted by the issues and support and advance these perspectives within internal and external systems. In partnership with organizational leaders, the Director of Systems Change and community engagement will advance strategic priorities around racial equity, authentic community engagement, human capital, homelessness prevention, organizational sustainability and infrastructure.

Responsibilities for Director of Systems Change and Community Engagement:

  • Advance organization’s issue advocacy agenda that includes priorities around early education and care, homeless response system, housing, economic inclusion, and democracy through participating in coalitions, mobilizing community, communicating, and engaging government officials on state and local level.
  • Lead or participate in internal collaboration and initiatives to advance strategic priorities across teams.
  • Train and build community capacity on healing centered engagement, trauma informed care, issue advocacy with external partners and staff and volunteers.
  • Direct organizational community engagement efforts with external partners that build services and resources for families.
  • Partner and create authentic engagement with the PSP community of guests, residents, families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Direct civic and authentic engagement initiatives to build power with our communities that will lead to change.
  • Support Whole Family Systems Initiative and team and participate in Core Team meetings
  • Engage state and other community partners around systems changes with a two-generation approach.
  • Steward organizational resources, including managing budgets.
  • Support in attracting resources for organizational, systems change, and community engagement efforts, including reporting on funded initiatives and evaluating program outputs and outcomes.
  • Ensure programming and internal culture, policies and practices align with the organization’s commitment to racial equity, authentic engagement, and trauma informed care.
  • Attend and participate in Board and Committee meetings, as requested by CEO.
  • Help to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals in regards to diversity.

Requirements for Director of Systems Change and Community Engagement:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5-8 years progressive experience and leadership. Graduate degree in related area preferred.
  • Experience with racial equity in systems change, understanding white supremacy culture and antidotes in organizational culture, and experience with racial equity, inclusion and engagement initiatives for internal and external audiences
  • Change management and supportive supervision competency and experience
  • Public policy, advocacy, community engagement or organizing experience
  • Exceptional relationship builder and inter-personal communicator; Strong written and oral communication skills; Comfort and experience with public speaking to large and small groups on complex topics
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow projects through to completion and drive that in others and groups
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, and leading key internal and external strategic initiatives
  • Experience working with board of directors

Pay and Benefits for Director of Systems Change and Community Engagement:

  • $72,000 – $75,000 per year
