‘Their vote is their voice’: Twin Cities shelters bring voting access to residents

Sahan Journal interviewed our very own Linda Barerra, Community Organizing Manager, about her work on voter engagement and lowering barriers to voting for our guests, including vouching for residents when they vote.

This year, we proudly partnered with the City of Minneapolis Government to host a one-day, on-site, early-voting pop-up at our Possibility Place Shelter on Sunday, October 25, 2026! The event was a success, with guests, staff, and local residents showing up to make their voices heard. We’re committed to breaking down voting barriers by providing voting information and vouching for guests when they register. Homelessness should never be a barrier to voting.
