From housing crisis to housing stability

People Serving People operates the largest family homeless shelter located in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a 16-room family homeless shelter for women and non-binary-led families in North Minneapolis. Downtown Minneapolis Shelter

In 2002, twenty years after People Serving People’s founding, we opened the doors to our current facility in Downtown Minneapolis. Our 11-floor, 10-story building— Minnesota’s largest family homeless shelter—houses everything under one roof: space for community programs, classrooms, 99 private shelter rooms, 10 permanent supportive apartments, and administrative offices.

Anne’s Place Shelter

Our St. Anne’s Place Shelter, which became part of the People Serving People suite of programs in May of 2024 as part of a gift, isn’t just a shelter; it’s a sanctuary. St. Anne’s Places is a small, close-knit, home-like family emergency shelter located in North Minneapolis that houses up to 6 families at a time in 16 rooms; women or non-binary heads of households and their children. St. Anne’s Place offers its on-site programs and services.

Supportive Housing Units

The People Serving People Supportive Housing Program offers stable housing apartments located within our Downtown Shelter, providing families with permanent supportive housing and comprehensive wrap-around services. Each two-bedroom unit comes fully furnished and also provides a bathroom, living room, and kitchenette.
