GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Volunteer and In-kind Relations Intern assists the development team by answering questions from volunteers, presenting volunteer opportunities to community partners, collecting and entering volunteer data, and helping in-kind donors.

INTERNSHIP BENEFITS

• Increase communication skills by interacting with community partners at volunteer events
• Increase communication skills by interacting with community partners at volunteer events
• Learn to operate People Serving People’s CRM database for data collection and entry
• Develop interpersonal communication with volunteers and in-kind donors
• Learn organization skills through scheduled thank you letters and prepared mailings
• Take on a leadership role with long-time volunteers to promote greater involvement with People Serving People

2. Learn about being a team player by joining staff at weekend and evening events to engage the community
3. You will also have the opportunity to learn new skills and share your skill set with the team

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent phone etiquette
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Highly organized, able to define & prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Proficient in MS Office
• Must be able to pass a background check prior to start date

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

It is important for the Volunteer and In-Kind Relations Intern to be comfortable with people from diverse backgrounds. Coursework or previous experience in public relations, communications, or non-profit organizations is preferred.
