What do we need?

We are looking for a service-oriented individual for our Full-Time Family Prevention Associate role. The Family Prevention Associate is responsible for running the Families for Finance program, and supporting the Family Prevention program and Technology Resource Center. This is an in-office role without an ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities for Family Prevention Associate:

  • Develop trusting relationships with participating families living at People Serving People.
  • Conduct one-on-one assessments with families to assess their financial trauma and develop work plans.
  • Connect families to PSP staff who can support families with community resources and referrals
  • Collaborate with financial healing partner/resources and willingness to be trained in financial trauma/healing.
  • Facilitate Money on My Mind (Financial literacy and Empowerment Classes)
  • Check-in with families regularly and update financial profiles/work plans based on their changing circumstances.
  • Help participants to create a savings account and oversee the program’s “matching” feature, as families save funds.
  • Completes after move out survey with former shelter families to assess the families experience in shelter as well as future support needs to prevent the reoccurrence of homelessness.
  • Completes follow-up surveys with former families in the Prevention Program to evaluate family stability and program effectiveness and improvements.
  • Helps compile and analyze Family Prevention Program feedback for program enhancements and statistics.
  • Provides direct service to guests by assisting them with computer skills including, but not limited to: Setting up email, using flash drives, copying and pasting a document, printing a document, finding housing links, navigating job searches, and helping guests find relevant websites.
  • Performs routine maintenance on computers, such as cleaning and updating programs

Requirements for Family Prevention Associate:

  • 4-year degree in social work, psychology, sociology, human services or closely related field. Relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 2 or more years’ experience serving multi-cultural, socially diverse population
  • 2 or more years’ experience working with the people experiencing homelessness and/or with adults/children with mental illness.
  • A valid, Class D driver’s license required.
  • Candidates with lived experience of homelessness, that are BIPOC, or another marginalized identity are encouraged to apply.

Pay and Benefits for Family Prevention Associate:

  • $20.00 per hour
