What do we need?

The primary focus is the management of People Serving People’s Culinary Service operation in accordance with agency policies and in compliance with city and state health departments regulations.  The Culinary Services Manager empowers their team to maintain consistently excellent food service standards.

The schedule for the Culinary Services Manager role will be Monday through Friday with negotiable start and end times.

Responsibilities for Culinary Services Manager:

  • Ensures the highest level of sanitation in food preparation and food storage in compliance with all relevant codes and Health Department standards.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of the Culinary Service Department staff.
  • Partners with team to maintain good standing with local, state and federal licensing and compliance requirements.
  • Supervises all record keeping procedures including time sheets, inventory and guest records.
  • Develops recipes and menu plans that are cost effective, nutritious, highly palatable, compliant with applicable programs, culturally appropriate and responsive to stakeholder needs.
  • Supervises preparation of all menu items and joins team on the line when appropriate.
  • Proactively identifies shortfalls within the department and develops ways to correct them.
  • Develops, manages and stewards the department’s budget. Works with external partners to source and utilize donations and negotiates pricing structures with food purveyors and related vendors.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and repair of all food service equipment and projects long-range capital needs.
  • Participates in regular leadership meetings.

Requirements for Culinary Services Manager:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 2- or 4-year degree preferred.
  • Formal training in the culinary arts and institutional/volume food preparation.
  • 5+ years of experience managing high-volume food service operations with organizations such as school systems, healthcare providers, and residential facilities.
  • Working knowledge of cost control, volume feeding, state and local health department guidelines, the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising diverse teams and engaging constructively with diverse clientele.
  • Demonstrated record of compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain ServSAFE Food Manager Certification within 30 days and Allergen Certification within 90 days.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Office365 suite of applications.
  • Experienced with web-based portals for product ordering and other tasks.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours and move or lift up to 75lbs.

Pay and Benefits for Culinary Services Manager:

  • $55,000 – $65,000 per year
