Looking for a way to help out in our community this holiday season? People Serving People provides many services to homeless children and their families that depend on volunteer support. Pick a date, time, and activity, and come join us!
In-Kind Donation Drives
You can make a difference in our community by collecting much needed items for children and families staying at People Serving People. Make a donation drive part of your family fun during this holiday season, or invite a group of friends or colleagues to collect items together!
Donations can be delivered at any time to our lobby entrance, parking lot drop box, or loading dock at 614 3rd Street South, Minneapolis, located at the corner of 3rd Street and Portland Avenue. Assistance with larger donations is available at the loading dock between 7:30 am - 3 pm Monday-Friday and before 1 pm on weekends or by prior arrangement. Donation receipts are available in our lobby and at the loading dock.

- How can I sign up to volunteer?
Signing up is easy. Look here to find your Holiday Helper Opportunities and then follow the link to reserve your spot. - Can I bring my family?
Many Holiday Helper Opportunities are suitable for families do to together. - Do you provide babysitting?
There is no babysitting available at People Serving People. - Can I come more than once and sign up for more than one volunteer event?
Yes, you can sign up for multiple events at one time. - What is the Winter Carnival and is it outside?
Our Winter Carnival is indoors at our building. It includes games, arts and crafts, yummy treats and more. - Can I call to sign up?
If you do not have access to our online Holiday Helper Application, please call Mallory Haugen, Volunteer and In-Kind Coordinator at 612.277.0256. - Where do I park and is it free?
We have limited parking onsite at our location. Otherwise there is a lot of metered street parking nearby. - What is the time commitment?
Most volunteer activities are 2-4 hours. The start and end times are listed on the Holiday Helper Application so you can pick the activities that work with your schedule. - Can I get credit for volunteering and how do I do this?
Check with your school about getting credit for your volunteer service with us. Let us know when you come if you need verification of your volunteer hours. - For holiday decorating, do we need to bring our own decorations?
We supply the decorations and also accept donations of holiday decorations. - Can I come on the weekends?
There are volunteer activities every day. See the complete list of available Holiday Helper events here. - Can I just show up and work?
No. For planning and security reasons, all volunteers need to sign up ahead of time. - What happens after I sign up for an activity? Will someone call me to confirm?
You will receive an immediate email acknowledgement when you sign up and an email reminder three days before your volunteer activity. - What happens when I get to PSP?
Sign in with security at the only entrance to our building, and they will call a staff member to escort you to your activity site. - Can I donate gifts for the children staying at People Serving People?
Yes! See our Gift Registry for a list of toys and other items that are especially needed this holiday season. You can order from this gift registry for delivery to us or you can deliver the gifts to us personally or you can use this registry for gift ideas to shop at your local stores. All gifts must be delivered UNWRAPPED. - Do you accept gently used clothing and shoes?
