32% of children in Minneapolis are living in poverty, and there was a 25% increase in child poverty in Minneapolis from 2008 to 2009. With over 200 children staying at People Serving People’s shelter on any given night, we house the majority of homeless children, and provide new opportunities children and their families to succeed.
Did you know that children in poverty are more at risk than other children of not graduating on time, physical and mental health issues, and adult poverty or homelessness? Not all children have the same opportunities to succeed. Some children need support from the community to help them be as great as they can be.
People Serving People is a 501 (c ) 3 non-profit organization. All donations go to fund Family Support Services at People Serving People and are tax-deductible.
Becoming a member of the Change a Life Coalition will help youth at People Serving People to receive after school tutoring and activities, and their family to receive individualized advocacy to help their family reach stability through empowerment and connections to resources.
