Technology Center Intern

Department: Family Support Services

Reports To: Technology Center Associate and Community Resources Manager

Type of Position: Unpaid

Hours: Mon. - Fri. 4 pm - 8 pm, Sat. 9 am - Noon

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The primary focus of this position is to supervise, teach and to promote services that improve computer literacy for guests, with the focus on employment and housing searches.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Assists guests with their orientation in the Technology Center.
  • Promotes learning and basic computer use.
  • Works with guests to learn how to problem solve while they also learn about computer technology.
  • Actively enforces Technology Center rules and policies.
  • Maintains required documentation and record keeping.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Technology Center Associate and/or Community Resources Manager.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Experience and competence with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Apple PageMaker.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
